Astaxanthin is a carotenoid produced from Haematococcus Pluvialis microalgaeCarotenoids areganic pigments that naturally occur in plants other photosyntheticganisms. Theseganic pigments are responsible fgiving many plants, fruits, sea life their vibrant colors. 

There are over 600 known carotenoids which are broken down in 2 groups; Xanthophylls Carotenes
